When it comes to new Hip Hop, certain artists names jump to mind. Prominent among these new Hip Hop artists are names such as A$AP Rocky, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Trinidad James, 2Chainz, Future, B.O.B., Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. There are also some new Hip Hop artists who have been around in the past but ended up reinventing themselves in one form or the other. Most notable among these Hip Hop artists are Pusha T (formerly of The Clipse), French Montana and Troy Ave. These new Hip Hop artists just recently found their way into the limelight after years of wallowing in the underground. Mainstream has accepted these new Hip Hop artists with some people not even realizing or acknowledging their previous history.

One thing is certain when it comes to new Hip Hop and it's acceptance in the mainstream, the new Hip Hop music has to be hot and much attention is given to the image of the new Hip Hop artist, perhaps even too much. Some people tend to argue that this has affected the quality of the new Hip Hop music being released. Others tend to complain about missing the good old days of 90's Hip Hop, forgetting that nostalgia plays a big part in how much you enjoy a song and the new Hip Hop of today will be the 90's music of tomorrow.

Also, with the internet age upon us, the attention span of the general public has shrunk. Therefore, for a new Hip Hop artist to be considered relevant, he has to release new Hip Hop music at an alarming rate, and he has to be consistent. Take a look at the new Hip Hop music 50 Cent has been releasing in the buildup to his new Hip Hop album, Animal Ambition. 50 Cent has been releasing a single every week on iTunes along with an accompanying music video on YouTube, utilizing all the digital avenues available to release new Hip Hop music and feeding attention span of the listeners of new Hip Hop. Only time would tell if this new approach of releasing new Hip Hop music will pay off.
